M.M. London Gazette 23 February 1918.
Private Thomas Hatt was awarded the M.M. for gallantry and devotion to duty during a raid on the enemy's trenches at Arras on the night of 19-20 November 1917. He crawled into our lines carrying the machine gun which he had hugged all night between the German lines and ours. This raid took place the night preceding the great Cambrai offensive.
