Efficiency Medal, G.VI.R., 1st issue, Territorial (7358843 Sjt. C. J. Lewis. R.A.M.C.) in named card box of issue, extremely fine £40-£50

M.I.D. London Gazette 8 November 1945:
‘In recognition of gallant and distinguished service in North West Europe.’

Sold together with the R.A.M.C. Record Office enclosure for the Efficiency Medal addressed to ‘Mr. C. J. Lewis, 35, Inglefield Avenue, Neath, Cardiff’, and dated 11 November 1949.

Cyril James Lewis was born in Neath on 17 February 1912, and died there on 21 November 1971. His Mention in Despatches comes from the North West Europe London Gazette, of which some of the surviving recommendations seem to be downgraded decoration awards; most likely he was recommended for a British Empire Medal. His Efficiency Medal was awarded per Army Order 196 of 1946.
