Thomas Davies was born in London in 1844 and attested for the 2nd Foot on 11 April 1864, before transferring to the 61st Foot on 1 November 1866. In 1871 he was based at Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. He was awarded his Long Service and Good Conduct Medal in 1882 with the 2nd Battalion, this being his sole medal entitlement. He was promoted Corporal on 7 February 1883, and was discharged on 6 March 1885.
