Henry IV (1399-1413), Heavy coinage, Noble, Calais, type IIa, mm. cross pattée on rev. only, flag at stern, arms of France ancient in first quarter of shield, horizontal coronet on rudder, h in centre of rev., 7.67g/9h (Stewartby p.255, 1; SCBI Schneider 193; N 1339/1a; S 1707). A few tiny surface marks, otherwise extremely fine and probably much as struck, one of the finest examples known, extremely rare £20,000-£24,000

The mint accounts for Calais suggest that the bulk of gold was struck between August 1399 and Michaelmas 1401. No accounts exist between March 1404 and July 1422
