Charles E. Lowe was the son of Mr and Mrs G. Lowe of 70 The Street, Stratton St. Margaret, Swindon. He served during the Great War with the 2/1st (West Riding) Field Company, Royal Engineers (T.F.) in the French theatre of war from 21 June 1915. Lowe advanced to Sergeant, and was killed in action on the Western Front, 20 September 1916. Sergeant Lowe is buried in the Bouzincourt Communal Cemetery Extension, Somme, France.
