Charles Logan Cumming was born in Aberdeen on 26 April 1892, by trade a butcher. He attested for service with the Royal Navy on 29 October 1910. His medals for service in the Great War were sent to H.M.S. Victory and he was paid his war gratuity for service in H.M.S. Renown. He was awarded his Long Service and Good Conduct Medal with gratuity on 9 November 1925.
