William Henry Northcott was born on 9 September 1871 and was advanced Warrant Engineer in the Royal Naval Reserve on 27 January 1910. For his services during the Great War he was awarded the Chevalier of the Order of the White Eagle of Serbia (London Gazette 21 June 1918), and was appointed Commissioned Engineer on 1 January 1921.
