M.C. London Gazette 8 March 1919, citation 4 October 1919: Captain James Daly Leahy, Royal Irish Fusiliers. ‘For conspicuous gallantry and initiative. On the 20th September 1918 he was ordered to proceed to Kefr Haris. On his arrival at a point about 600 yards from the village he found it still holding out against an unsuccessful attack by two companies of another regiment. He promptly organised some platoons of the attacking companies which had got separated from their command and led them with his own company straight at the village, driving the enemy out and enabling the two attacking companies to occupy it.’
