Dorset, Poole, Richard Allen, Skidmore’s Halfpenny, 1797, Prince of Wales feathers above an oval inscribed 75, rev. legend in six lines, edge engrailed, 9.17g/6h (DH 3). From the usual damaged reverse die, extremely fine with virtually full original colour, rare (£90-120)

Fawcett/Litman Collection.
Richard Allen, ironmonger, listed in the Dorset Poll Book, 1807. The significance of the 75 is uncertain, but it is not thought to have a military connection
