Nicol Brown Hamilton was commissioned as Second Lieutenant into the 6th (City of Glasgow) Battalion, Highland Light Infantry, on 30 May 1917. He served in Palestine from 21 February 1918, attached to the 5th Battalion, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, and left to go to the Indian Army in September 1918. He served as a Lieutenant in 1/94th Russell’s Infantry in Iraq in 1919-20 and was mentioned in despatches for his services.
Sold with commission document as 2nd Lieutenant, dated 18 June 1917, together with several testimonial letters of recommendation and other original documents.
