Albert Huckins was born at Stonesfield, Woodstock, Oxfordshire, and enlisted into the 4th (Militia) Battalion, Oxfordshire Light Infantry, on 18 September 1895, at Oxford. He joined the Militia Reserve on 28 May 1897, but re-joined in June 1897 and was embodied for service in the South African War on 1 May 1900. He died of enteric fever in South Africa on 31 August 1900, at Kroonstad.
