M.B.E. London Gazette 20 September 1945:
‘In recognition of gallant and distinguished services in Italy.’
Augustine Cyril Lyne Chudleigh was commissioned Second Lieutenant in the Leicestershire Regiment, and served with them during the Great War on the Western Front from 6 October 1915. He saw further service during the Second World War on the General List from 16 January 1940, and was promoted War Substantive Captain and temporary Major on 1 April 1945. For his services during the Second World War in Italy he was created a Member of the Order of the British Empire. His son served with the S.O.E. and was killed in a road accident in Germany in 1946.
