William Druce Duke attested for the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry and served with the 1st/4th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 29 March 1915. Appointed Company Quartermaster Sergeant, he subsequently served in No. 4 Officer Cadet Battalion at New College, Oxford, but was struck off the strength in January 1919, on dispersal. In the 1939 Register he is recorded as a Special Constable, residing at Walton Crescent, Oxford. He died in Oxford in 1957.
