Henry Ward, by trade a gunsmith, attested for the Corps of Armourers on 8 November 1869, and was posted for duty with the 7th Brigade Artillery as Armourer Sergeant on 7 August 1870. He was posted to 2nd Life Guards on 1 November 1871, and was promoted Staff Armourer Sergeant 27 April 1887. He was discharged in 1890.
