Frederick Charles Gover was born in Reading, Berkshire, and and attested for the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry at Caversham on 5 August 1914. He served with the 2nd Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 14 August 1914 and was killed in action at Langemarck on 21 October 1914, aged 28. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Belgium.
