55th (Westmoreland) Regiment Officer’s Shoulder Belt Plate 1843-55.
An extremely fine quality example, the copper gilt rectangular back plate has an engine-turned 'dead' gilt ground and narrow burnished rim. ‘Dead’ gilt metal mounts comprise laurel sprays, a crowned strap, ‘Westmoreland’, this enclosing on a domed burnished gilt ground, the honour ‘China’, the Royal China Dragon and engine turned numerals, ‘55’.
