The battle cruiser H.M.S. Indomitable was launched on 16 March 1907 and was part of the 3rd Battle Cruiser Squadron at the Battle of Jutland.
Victor Harold Pilgrim was born in Devonport on 5 December 1895 and joined the Royal Navy as a Boy 2nd Class on 12 September 1911. He served during the Great War in H.M.S. Indomitable from the outbreak of War to 14 September 1917, and was advanced Able Seaman on 20 May 1915. Promoted Leading Seaman on 10 March 1928, he was shore pensioned on 2 December 1935, but was recalled for service during the Second World War.
