Edward Bloor was born in Bristol and joined the Royal Marines on 22 January 1857, aged 20. He served in the Royal Yacht Victoria and Albert, and it was whilst serving with this vessel that he was awarded a Long Service and Good Conduct Medal. He was discharged dead from Royal Naval Hospital, Haslar, on 24 September 1875.
