Of Nelson interest: A small rectangular case, with hinged lid, the front bearing an oval enamelled portrait of Admiral Lord Nelson, wearing full dress uniform of a Rear Admiral with orders and decorations, the obverse depicting Lady Emma Hamilton, in red gown, holding a spaniel, the portraits within scroll engraved decoration, white metal unmarked, length 32mm. £100-£150
The portrait of Lord Nelson is after John Hoppner, commissioned 1801, the original now in the Royal Collection Trust; the obverse is after the portrait of ‘Lady Hamilton as Nature’, by George Romney, dated 1782, now in the Frick Collection, New York.
