Thomas Ernest Martin was born in Landport, Hampshire on 4 December 1872. He enlisted into the Royal Navy as a Probationary Sick Berth Attendant on 24 November 1893 and attained the rank of Chief Sick Berth Steward on 15 December 1911. During the Great War his service was confined to Haslar Hospital and was invalided on 10 April 1921. Sold with 3 Masonic booklets; a certificate of initiation to Zetland Lodge, Valletta, Malta, dated 16 January 1907; 8 receipts re. the Zetland Lodge; a letter of reference from the Fleet Surgeon dated 17 September 1898 and 3 other contemporary papers; together with copied service papers.
