A Boer War D.C.M. awarded to Lance Corporal P. Melia, 2nd Battalion, Royal Dublin Fusiliers, attached South African Light Horse, who died of enteric at Kroonstad on 27 December 1901

Patrick Melia died of enteric at Kroonstad on 24 December 1901, whilst sttached to the South African Light Horse in the Rank of Regimental Sergeant Major. He was additionally entitled to the Q.S.A. with six clasps, which was named to him in the Royal Dublin Fusiliers (roll confirms), and his name is commemorated on the St Stephen’s Green Arch in Dublin, Ireland.
