Sold with the Tilston’s regimental tie and a memo written and signed by Tilston, dated Aurora, Ontario, 24 October 1977, ‘Dear John, Thank you for your interest in my military career and your desire to put together a collection of military artifacts. .... After 35 years, I have to tell you all my military gear has either worn out or been discarded. .... My medals and other decorations I continue to wear from time to time and at time of my death will become the possession of the Royal Canadian Military Institute for display in the museum. I have been able to locate a tie I used to wear. Officers in the Canadian Army always wear their tie - even in action. The tartan is Rob Roy our official tie. ... [Signed] F. A. Tilston’.
