William Henry Northcott was appointed a Warrant Engineer in the Royal Naval Reserve in January 1910, and would appear to have served in the depot ship H.M.S. St. George for the duration of the Great War, initially in home waters, afterwards in the Mediterranean 1915-17 and latterly in the Aegean 1918-19. A confirmed recipient of the Serbian White Eagle, 5th class, he was advanced to Commissioned Engineer in January 1921.
