Ernest Emil Victor Johnson was born in London and attested for the Royal Warwickshire Regiment at Ladywood, Birmingham. He served with the 14th (1st Birmingham Pals) Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 31 July 1915, and was killed in action on 3 September 1916, on which date the Battalion was involved in an attack on Falfemont Farm. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, France.
