Hammer Price:
£800

A fine old mahogany cabinet, 35.5 x 35.5 x 35.5cm, comprising 24 trays, each double-pierced to hold 100 coins of hammered Penny size, single brass pulls, double doors, the right-side door with white plaque entitled ‘Pennies 1’, lock (no key). A strip of beading missing from upper right side and some surface marks concurrent with age, otherwise a fine cabinet complete with all felts, ideal for a large collection of small denomination coins (£300-400)

Provenance:
Dr. G.L.V. Tatler.

The cabinet contains all the original tickets, with associated provenances, for the coins from the late Dr Tatler's collection (Baldwin Auction 30, 7-8 May 2002, lots 493-545) and as such is of considerable importance to collectors of the Long Cross and Edward penny series
