Albert Doling initially served with the 1st Volunteer Hampshire Regiment (awarded the Volunteer Long Service Medal in January 1909). He subsequently advanced to Company Sergeant Major and served with the 15th (Hampshire Yeomanry) Battalion, Hampshire Regiment (awarded the Territorial Force Efficiency Medal in August 1919).
