Albert Edward Gray was a native of Gosport, Hampshire. He served during the Great War with the 14th (Service) Battalion (1st Portsmouth), Hampshire Regiment in the French theatre of war from 5 March 1916. Gray was commissioned Second Lieutenant in August 1918.
