James Henry Light, the son of Jesse and Emma Light of Crazies Hill, Henley on Thames, was born in Henley on Thames and attested there for the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry. He served with the 2/4th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front, and was killed in action on 21 August 1916. He is buried at Laventie Military Cemetery, La Gorgue, France.

Harry Light, the brother of the above, was born in Henley on Thames and attested there for the Royal Berkshire Regiment. He served with the 2nd Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 6 November 1914, and was killed in action on 25 September 1915. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Ploegsteert Memorial, Belgium.
