C. F. Burnham served with “A” Company, Midland Battalion, North West Field Force, as part of Middleton’s Column stationed at Saskatchewan Landing on the South Saskatchewan River north of Swift Current. “A” Company was one of two companies, along with “C” Company, that advanced to Batoche.
