Stephen Hatton, born Stephen Fairclough, enlisted into the Grenadier Guards and served with Queen’s Company, 1st Battalion in South Armagh during their tour of Northern Ireland in 1983. He changed his named by deed poll on 20 November 1985, and continued to serve under his new name. Appointed Corporal, he served in the Gulf War attached to the 1st Staffordshire Regiment, 7 Armoured Brigade. Transferring to the Royal Logistic Corps in 1995 as a Military Training Instructor, he later served in Iraq during Operation Telic.

Sold together with copy research, copy deed poll and original photographs of the recipient in uniform, including one taken at Crossmaglen, in 1983.
