Walter Savage attested for the Royal Fusiliers and served with Head Quarters, 177 Brigade during the Great War on the Western Front. For his services he was twice Mentioned in Despatches (London Gazettes 4 January 1917 and 11 December 1917), and was awarded the Belgian Croix de Guerre (London Gazette 15 April 1918).
William F. Savage, brother of the above, served in the West Yorkshire Regiment and was transferred to the Class ‘Z’ Reserve on 25 October 1919.
