Charles George Coles was the son of Mrs. Licence of 17 Paradise Place, Leiston, and the husband of Beatrice Mary Coles, of 30 Paradise Place, Leiston, Suffolk. He served during the Great War with the 1/4th Battalion, Suffolk Regiment in the French theatre of war from 8 November 1914. Private Coles was killed in action on the Western Front on 12 March 1915, and is commemorated on Le Touret Memorial, France.
