George Selby served as Ordinary Seaman in H.M.S. Hebrus when the combined English and Dutch fleets attacked the heavily fortified town of Algiers on 27 August 1816. British casualties amounted to 128 killed and 690 wounded; the Dutch suffered 13 killed and 52 wounded.
One other man of this name appears on the Admiralty Claimants’ List, a single clasp award for Royalist May & June 1810 (one of only three recipients of this clasp).
