A George III silver salver, with gadrooned border, on three gadroon-edged feet, centred with a draped coat of arms beneath a bishop’s mitre, by John Mewburn, London 1811, diameter 26cm. £500-£700
The arms are Pelham impaling those of the bishopric of Exeter, for George Pelham, Bishop between 1807-1820.
George Pelham (1766 - 1827) was the third and youngest son of Sir Thomas Pelham, 6th Baronet and 1st Earl of Chichester.
He was subsequently translated to Lincoln and was also Clerk of the Closet, 1815 -27.
He was buried at Buckden.
