Of racing interest: An early 20th century gold and enamel jockey brooch, retailed by Garrard & Co., realistically modelled as a horse and jockey at full gallop, the jockey in white and gold enamelled racing colours, length 30mm. £400-£600
This brooch was presented by Hugh Cecil Lowther, 5th Earl of Lonsdale (1857 - 1944) to his butler on the occasion of his Lordship’s horse, Royal Lancer, winning the Saint Leger Stakes in 1922. Thence by family descent.
