A late 19th century gem-set brooch, French, the openwork quatrefoil set with a central natural pearl, measuring approximately 8.7 x 8.6 x 9.0mm, the surround set with alternating square-shaped emeralds and old brilliant-cut diamonds, with oval-cut rubies to the cardinal points and diamond-set scrolls between, mounted in silver and gold, French assay marks, partial maker’s mark, fitted leather case with embossed initials ‘D.I.’, diameter 35mm. £3,000-£5,000

This brooch originally belonged to Baroness Dolorès Issaverdens, née Torres Caicedo. Born in Argentina in 1881, the Baroness married Baron Eugène Issaverdens (1874-1928) in Paris in 1900. She lived in France until the end of her life and died in Port-Marly in 1967.
Thence by family descent.
