An early 19th century French gold and enamel snuff box by Christian Petschler, of rectangular form with canted corners, the hinged cover centred with a diaperwork engine-turned panel within blue enamel decorated border of urns, flowers, stiff leaf and laurel, the sides depicting artichokes against a stippled ground, lozenge maker’s mark to inner rim and French Third Standard guarantee mark for 18ct gold (in use between 1819-1838), length 8.5cm. £4,000-£6,000
