Banco Nacional Ultramarino, St Thomas & Prince, printers positional proof for 500 Escudos, 18 April 1956, serial number 070001, Luis Pereira Coutinho signature, with ruled lines across face to check the position of serial numbers, cancelled with crayon, in PMG holder 63, choice uncirculated, this is possibly an ‘issued’ note taken from the top of a pack to check the position of various elements, and is almost certainly a unique survivor, but it lacks the comma in the serial number, so this theory is not certain
