Robert Langstaff was born in the Parish of Calabeck, Cumberland, and enlisted into the Royal Engineers at Carlisle on 4 November 1856, aged 22 years. He served for 21 years and 71 days, during which time he earned the ‘Abyssinian and Ashantee War Medals with clasp for Coomassie.’ Sold with copy service papers.
