Percival Robert William Harvey was born on 10 July 1913. Gaining the Licenciate of Dental Surgery (L.D.S.) he entered the Army Dental Corps as a Lieutenant on a short service commission in March 1938, being promoted Captain in March 1939. He served throughout the Second World War, being ranked Acting Major, November 1943-February 1944 and Temporary Major, February-December 1944. After the war he served in Palestine and was promoted Major in July 1946. His career was crowned with the award of an M.B.E. in 1949. Promoted Lieutenant-Colonel in March 1953, he later served as an Instructor. Lieutenant-Colonel Harvey retired on 2 December 1958.
