Early 14th century, a bronze seal matrix, 2cm x 3cm tall, chess type with a trefoil suspension loop, double collar below; circular face with ecce agnvs dei, St Agnes holding the lamb of God in her right hand, palm branch at her side. Good very fine with an olive green patina £150-£200
found in East Anglia
On the 21st of January every year the feast of St Agnes is held; she was killed by the Romans in AD 304 because of her devotion to Jesus and her refusal to marry the governor’s son.
