Sidney Herbert Fleming attested for the 28th (County of London) Battalion (Artist’s Rifles), London Regiment, from which unit he was commissioned Second Lieutenant in the Gloucestershire Regiment (Territorial Force) on 26 September 1916. He served with the Gloucestershire Regiment during the Great War on the Western Front from 1917, and was latterly promoted Lieutenant.
