Charles Alexandre Trudon des Ormes was born in 1831 and was commissioned Sous-Lieutenant in the 48th Regiment of Infantry of the Line on 1 October 1853. He served in the expedition to the Baltic the following year, and his Certificate of Service confirms that he received the British Baltic Medal. Promoted Lieutenant on 28 June 1856, he relinquished his commission on 18 May 1861, but saw further service during the Franco-Prussian War, and is recorded as having ‘died for France’ in 1870.
Sold with the recipient’s original Commissioned Document, dated 22 October 1853; and French Ministry of War Certificate of service, dated 19 October 1865, these both folded and in fragile condition; and copied research.
