Issac Taylor, a coal miner from Midsomer Norton, Somerset, was born in Laycock in 1873. He attested into the 4th (Militia) Battalion in 1893 and served in South Africa during the Boer War. He re-enlisted into his old regiment on 10 March 1915 for service during the Great War and served at home. He was discharged on 24 November 1917 and awarded a Silver War Badge, No. 273390.
