Frederick William Burrows initially served during the Great War with the 9th (Service) Battalion, Suffolk Regiment on the Western Front. He died of wounds whilst serving with the 12th (Service) Battalion (East Anglian) on 29 July 1916, and is buried in the Bethune Town Cemetery, France.
