India General Service 1908-35, 1 clasp, Waziristan 1921-24 (4181809 Fsr. F. Turley. R.W. Fus.) minor edge bruising, good very fine £80-£100

Fred Turley was born in Connah’s Quay, Flintshire, on 22 September 1901 and attested for the Royal Welsh Fusiliers at Wrexham on 19 February 1921. He served with the Regiment in India from 22 November 1921 to 19 April 1927, and with the Waziristan Field Force from 3 April 1922 to 2 April 1923. Advanced Corporal, he qualified as a Physical Training Instructor, but sustained a bad knee injury which hospitalised him and ultimately led to his discharge, physically unfit, on 20 May 1927.

Sold with the recipient’s Regular Army Certificate of Service Red Book; various Regimental sports group photographs, these mounted on boards; and a postcard photograph of the recipient.
