Egypt and Sudan 1882-89, dated reverse, 1 clasp, Alexandria 11th July (G. W. Milgate, A.B. H.M.S. “Superb”) light pitting and contact marks, otherwise nearly very fine £100-£140

George William Milgate was born at Minster, Thanet, Kent, on 2 October 1858, and joined the Royal Navy as a Boy 2nd Class aboard H.M.S. Duncan on 17 February 1874. He became an Ordinary Seaman in October 1876 and an Able Seaman in March 1878, serving aboard Superb from 6 October 1880 to 21 December 1883, including the bombardment of Alexandria on 11 July 1882. He was discharged to pension on 18 February 1897.
