Benjamin Cantello was born in Staffordshire. He served during the Great War with the 1st Battalion, Royal Lancaster Regiment in the French theatre of War from 27 December 1914. Cantello was discharged due to ‘Mental Instability’ on 18 December 1916 (entitled to Silver War Badge).

There are several men of the name John Horsley listed by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
