Waterloo 1815 (Serj. Henry Mills, 1st Batt. 52nd Reg. Foot) fitted with steel clip and ring suspension, light contact marks and edge bruising, otherwise very fine £2500-3000

Henry Mills was born in the Parish of Odiam, Hampshire, and enlisted at Portsmouth on 17 October 1799, aged 20. He was discharged in the rank of Sergeant, on reduction of the regiment, 6 December 1818, his discharge papers noting that his conduct has been ‘excellent in every way and that he has been wounded in the left shoulder by a musket ball at Ferrol, 21st Augt. 1800, and in the leg by a musket ball at Orthes, 27th Feby. 1814. On the Storming Party at St Sebastian.’

Henry Mills is confirmed as one of the 38 men who formed the 52nd Foot storming party at St Sebastian, and who were subsequently awarded the 52nd Foot Forlorn Hope Medal (Balmer R390). Sold with copy discharge papers.
