Charles George Marshall Plumer was born on 16 September 1878. Serving initially in the York and Lancaster Regiment, he saw active service in the Boer War with the South African Light Horse, serving in operations in the Cape River Colony, October 1901-December 1901, Transvaal, December 1901-February 1902 and Cape Colony, February-May 1902. Appointed a Lieutenant in the Indian Army on 12 November 1902, he was promoted Captain in September 1903 and Major in January 1917, serving with the 61st King George’s Own Pioneers. With the same unit he served in Waziristan, 1920-21 and was mentioned in despatches (London Gazette 1 June 1923) and awarded the O.B.E. On 9 November 1927 he was promoted to Lieutenant-Colonel and appointed Commandant of the 10th Battalion 1st Madras Pioneers (late 81st Pioneers). He retired in 1930. Sold with some copied research.
